Not even a pandemic was going to stop Lady Gaga from putting on some truly iconic looks at the 2020 MTV VMAs.
With her creative team, director and designer Nicola Formichetti, makeup artist Sarah Tanno, stylist Marta del Rio, and stylist Frederic Aspiras, she did not disappoint fans or fashionistas, and won some of the night’s most iconic awards ( including “Artist of the Year” and “Song of the Year”) and definitely his most iconic style, along with a safety message: “Wear a mask!”

In true Gaga style, she wore five different outfits for each of her five wins.
His first look was his “red carpet” outfit, where he paid tribute to the Moon-person award with a helmet designed by Conrad by Conrad. Her outfit was the padded parka with hearts, designed by the New York designer Area, from the Fall / Winter 2020 collection.
He completed the look with platform boots from Pleaser shoes. Gaga joked about her helmet: “I wore face masks before it was a thing.”
For her second look accepting the Best Collaboration Award, Gaga changed into an Iris Van Herpen outfit and a pink Cecilio Castrillo mask that served as Batman’s Bane mask.
On a winning streak, Gaga changed into a stunning green taffeta skirt to accept “Song of the Year” for It rains on me.
The dress was designed by Christopher John Rogers, whom Net-a-Porter declared as a 2020 designer to watch out for. Rogers, who dressed Michelle Obama, and Cardi B is known for her elegant tailoring and silhouettes.
It was also time for another mask change. Lance Victor Moore was the go-to designer for the horned look.
Gaga won the “Artist of the Year” award and presented another outfit and mask, larger than the previous one. Maison Valentino was the designer of this look, styled again by Formichetti.

The haute couture look was by Pierpaolo Piccoili. Indonesian designer Maison Met, also known as Mety Choa, created the dazzling glowing mask, emphasizing the importance of safety during the pandemic.
Gaga’s white platform boots from Pleaser shoes added height to the 5’2 “singer.
There was a Lord of the Rings Satisfies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles “Shredder” vibes as Gaga picked up the top Tri-Con award as she returned with her fifth outfit change of the night.
Los Angeles designer Candice Cuoco created the jacket, and Manuel Albarran (who specializes in metal costume design) was responsible for Gaga’s pointy bra and choker, which she wore over another Valentino creation.
