IKEA Cheras says it will continue to act with the advice of the authorities.

PETALING JAYA: Several security guards at IKEA’s Cheras store tested positive for Covid-19, following a scheduled routine test.

In a Facebook post, management said those who tested positive last worked on January 23. All other security guards were under quarantine until further notice from the authorities.

Co-workers who were in close contact with the positive cases were instructed to self-quarantine at home and underwent smear tests.

Management also said that the store will be closed today for cleanup and contact tracing efforts, and that it will continue to act with the advice of authorities.

“We have and will continue to implement all necessary security measures, including replacement of service partner workers, contact tracing, swab testing, quarantine for all close contacts and sanitation,” he said.

IKEA’s Damansara store had previously closed on January 2, following the detection of several Covid-19 cases involving employees and service partners.

The same establishment also closed for a day in November after one of its part-time workers was suspected of being Covid-19 positive.
