KUCHING: Businesses are required to operate at specific times during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in the Kuching district, which is effective from today until November 22.
According to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) published yesterday by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), supermarkets, shopping malls, retail stores, street stalls, food trucks and restaurants can operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. ; morning markets from 6 to 12 and night markets from 4 to 10 pm; and gas stations from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“The public is encouraged to buy food through drive-thru, delivery or takeout. Dinner is allowed but with a maximum of four people per table, with a distance of 1 m between diners ”, stated the SOP.
Fishing, plantations, agriculture, livestock and other sectors related to food supply are allowed to function as usual.
Public transportation, such as stage buses and express buses, can operate as usual, while taxis and e-hailing with a maximum of two passengers can operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Clinics, as well as government and private hospitals, can operate around the clock, while pharmacies and drug stores can operate from 6 am to 10 pm.
Meanwhile, interdistrict travel within and outside the Kuching District is not allowed except for permitted activities and emergencies. Barricades are taking place at specific locations in the Kuching district, led by members of the police and armed forces, as well as the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela).
Only three people per household can get food, basic necessities, medicine and other necessities, while high-risk people and children cannot go to open and crowded public places.
Religious activities are not allowed in places of worship. Mosques and surau may call Azan for solat prayers as well as Friday prayers, subject to the allowed number of people.
For non-Islamic places of worship, administration and officials are subject to the SOP established by the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor), Chief Minister’s Department.
This also applies to celebrations.
Not all gatherings and celebrations are allowed, while ‘akad nikah’ is subject to the SOP set by the state religious authority.
Entertainment activities in nightclubs or pubs, theme parks, karaoke, indoor playground and cinemas; Seminars, workshops, conferences and exhibitions related to Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) are not allowed.
Picnics, pool activities, contact activities including sports, championships or competitions, activities on commercial sports fields, gyms, badminton courts, out-of-state tourist activities, and any activity involving large numbers of people where it is not possible to practice physical distancing is not allowed.
