PUTRAJAYA: All schools located in areas classified as red zones in the Klang district in Selangor, as well as the Sandakan, Papar and Tuaran districts in Sabah, will be closed from tomorrow until 23 October.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) in a statement said today that the closure involved 142 schools in Klang and another 242 schools in the three Sabah districts.

“This number includes the primary and secondary schools of the Ministry of Education, as well as the private schools registered with the Ministry of Education. Schools with shelters will also be closed, including vocational schools, ”he said.

Parents / guardians have been advised to bring students into dormitories at professional schools and colleges.

However, students may also choose to remain in the dormitory during the lockdown and will be under the care of the principal, he said.

“The school will provide food and beverages to students while they wait to be picked up by their parents or those who decide to stay at the shelter,” he said.

During the closure, principals and school principals will ensure that teachers and students implement teaching and learning from home as deemed appropriate.

“The teaching and learning manuals can be downloaded from the official portal of the Ministry of Education, www.moe.gov.my,” he said.

For the schools that were taking the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) mock exam and that were involved in the closure, they could reschedule it for a suitable replacement date.

“Any notifications about school closings for other districts will be made from time to time based on monitoring and cooperation with the National Security Council and the Ministry of Health,” he said.

Earlier, Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Sandakan, Papar, Tuaran in Sabah and Klang in Selangor, starting this Friday after the increase of Covid-19 cases in the districts.-Called
