PETALING JAYA: Everyone returning to Sarawak from abroad will now have to undergo a 14-day quarantine, during which they will have to take two swab tests.
The cost of accommodation at the quarantine center for Sarawak residents will be paid in full by the state government, but non-Sarawak residents will have to bear the cost themselves, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today. it’s a statement.
Ismail Sabri said that from July 24 to September 1, a total of 21,217 people crossed the border into Malaysia. Of these, 8,801 people had to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine at 70 designated hotels and four public training institutes across the country.
All of them are still in quarantine. Another 66 were sent to hospital for treatment, while the remaining 12,350 were allowed to go home.
Ismail Sabri said that these people had returned from the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Turkey, South Korea, Iran, Nepal. , Bangladesh. , Myanmar, Timor Leste, Taiwan, China, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Egypt, Spain, France, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
In another matter, the chief minister said police arrested 39 people for disobeying standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the recovery movement’s control order on Tuesday.
Among them were commercial operators who failed to provide the necessary equipment to record the temperature and contact details of people entering their facilities and to operate their businesses beyond the stipulated hours.
Others were arrested for hiring foreign workers without permission and for finding themselves in large crowds that make social distancing impossible.
Ismail Sabri said authorities also searched 21 construction sites and found all of them adhering to the SOPs.
He said essential items such as food remain sufficient and readily available for an extended period based on checks carried out by the Homeland Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry of 12 suppliers at 711 facilities, including retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers.
A total of 12,921 public access areas have also been cleaned up. They comprise 2,705 businesses, 5,693 government buildings, 1,596 housing projects, 2,573 public places, and 354 markets.
