Sarawak PKR chief, awaiting massive popular defections, calls on leaders to reconsider

SIBU: Sarawak PKR President Larry Sng says there will be a series of resignations by grassroots leaders aligned with his party’s previous leadership, but he wants them to reconsider his decision.

These resignations would be from Mas Gading, Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Petra Jaya, Kanowit, Lanang, Lubok Antu and Bintulu, he said, adding that these massive resignations should not come as a surprise as rumors of his defection have been a “secret to voices for many weeks. “

“I want to wish them all the best in every way, as they have contributed immensely to the party’s success and struggles in the past 20 years,” he said.

However, it was always a sad period for a party whenever its leaders left, “not only for them but for the fans who admired them.

“The principles they upheld resonated deeply with them at the time, and I am sure that deep in their hearts, it is still what they hold today,” he posted on Facebook on Friday (May 15).

Sng said he felt that many of them do not want to be in Sarawak PKR simply because they feel deprived of their rights with leadership and do not feel that they have room to survive and grow.

He said that whatever was behind his decision to leave the party, he wanted to be reconsidered.

“Under my leadership there is always room for talent to grow, even if they are not part of the winning team.”

“I don’t hold a grudge against my past detractors because many of them don’t really know me, but I guess I’m just like my father,” he said, referring to former Julau deputy Datuk Sng Chee Hua.

Sng said that even during the controversial 2018 PKR party elections, he refused to compromise his principles.

He added that recently, there was a movement within Sarawak PKR by a “certain winning team” that wanted to cleanse the remaining “cartel members” of their state formation by constantly attacking them on Facebook.

“I took this issue seriously and brought it to the attention of the party’s most important leaders,” he said.
