KUCHING: Sarawak will impose 14 days of home surveillance on Sarawak residents, permanent residents of the state and those with visa passes entering the state through Sabah and Labuan.
Other Malaysians coming through Sabah and Labuan must take a Covid-19 test three days before entering Sarawak, and will only be allowed a five-day stay, said the chairman of the state disaster management committee, Douglas Uggah Embas. .
All persons wishing to arrive must complete the “Enter Sarawak” online form prior to entering the state.
Sarawak residents, permanent residents and Sarawak visa pass holders will receive bracelets upon arrival in the state. Covid-19 testing will take place after the second and tenth day of your arrival.
“For those who were tested for Covid-19 three days before entering Sarawak, a second test will be conducted after the 10th day of arrival,” he said.
Costs will be borne by the Sarawak government.
Those whose final destinations are in rural areas (located far from the health clinics that tested for Covid-19) would be quarantined in designated centers or hotels.
The state’s action comes in the wake of a recent spike in Covid-19 cases in Sabah and the peninsula.
Uggah said that Malaysians from other states entering Sarawak through Sabah and Labuan must undergo Covid-19 testing three days before entering the state and fill out the online “Enter Sarawak” form.
Those who did not undergo Covid-19 tests three days before entering Sarawak will not be able to enter the state, he said.
“They will be issued a travel pass for a maximum of five days in the state. They must also attach their return plane tickets, ”she said. “Those who enter Sarawak may be considered under the category of essential services or for work purposes, but this will be subject to committee approval.”
Uggah also said that those who are in transit in Sarawak cannot leave their first point of entry.
“They will be given bracelets to show that they are subject to 14 days of quarantine upon reaching their final destinations,” he said.
Those entering Sarawak from Sabah and Labuan must also declare it on their Electronic Health Declaration Form, he said.
“Actions will be taken against those who make false statements under the State Public Health Protection Ordinance of 1999,” he added.
