Jurgen Klopp says Mo Salah has “redeveloped himself” to become more than a “pure goal scoring machine” at Liverpool.

The Egyptian has started the season in a wonderful way, scoring seven goals. He started against Sheffield United last week as a forward ahead of Roberto Firmino and then resumed the role from the bench midweek when Diogo Jota emerged as an option on the right wing.

Liverpool certainly have more options in attack than defense, although Klopp says he has seven alternatives to Fabinho to accompany Joe Gómez in central defense.

“Mo has played an amazing season so far, and developed again as a player from that pure goal scoring machine to a more connected player, very important to us,” Klopp said in Sky sports.

“He is the hardest worker, he can come and go, he uses his speed but also his technique between the lines.

“As a team we have to develop, as players we have to develop. That is normal because you have more experience, you have more games in your legs, that means that you understand the game better and better and better and you become more aware of your own abilities and use them more consciously.

“I am very happy with his development and season so far. But of course we need him and all the guys in their best form to achieve our goals. “

Klopp has been talking about the difficulties of this season and has said: “It is the toughest season in history, one hundred percent, for everyone.

“The teams with international soccer are in the most difficult period in history, because October is like the usual December, November is like the usual December and December is still like December. And January will not be much different.

“So from a month with practically no rest [in previous Decembers], at four months with practically no rest, that’s a huge challenge. Nobody knows exactly how to deal with it.

“We’ll see who gets through this, how we get through it, but we’ll fight with everything we have.”
