KUALA PENYU: With eight more days to vote in the Sabah elections, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin called on voters to elect a new state government that is aligned with the Federal Government to facilitate the administration and development of the state.

The prime minister said Sabah would be more successful if it was ruled by Perikatan Nasional along with the parties aligned with him.

“I have no right to decide (who should form the state government), but you do.

“It is a state election like this that will test the wisdom of the voters to choose a government that is capable of handling all problems properly,” he said yesterday at the meeting and greeting event with the locals.

In front of hundreds of attendees at the event, which was held in accordance with standard operating procedure to curb the spread of Covid-19, Muhyiddin also shared the Perikatan government’s experience in handling the pandemic.

He said the most extraordinary challenge was during the change of prime minister and the transition of power to the Perikatan government (without general elections), while at the same time he had to make important decisions to curb the spread of the virus.

“You have witnessed it and now you have to put on a mask. Although it was not mandatory, you still follow the instructions to keep your distance, wash your hands and use hand sanitizer, ”he said.

“This had never been done before in the history of the world, but it had to be done and I did it for the country.

“The government needed to take immediate and bold action or

otherwise, Covid-19 would have had a much bigger and more disastrous impact on the country, ”Muhyiddin added.

The prime minister also said he appreciated the contributions of Sabah’s interim prime minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal to the development of the state over the past two years, just as he appreciated the deeds of former prime minister Tan Sri Musa Aman to ensure progress and the welfare of Sabahans. .

“I don’t deny that my friend Shafie has done a lot for Sabah. Musa, when he was Prime Minister, also brought many developments to Sabah.

“I just hope that the Pakatan-led government at the federal level is aligned with the state government in Sabah.

So what should the voters do? Change it back, not to what it was before, but change it for the better, ”she said. – Bernama
