KOTA KINABALU (October 2): Chief Deputy Minister Datuk, Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, has dismissed claims that PAS has received a ministerial post in Sabah’s new cabinet as “fake news.”

“This is all fake news designed to cause hatred and disharmony,” he said.

He also said that the allegations that PAS was assigned a position in the Ministry of Native Affairs and Law were also false, adding that the allegations were being spread by irresponsible people.

“It is not true. I know the person who will be appointed. It is another person. We must be careful what we read on WhatsApp and FB,” said the president of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku.

“There are so many rumors that it will not surprise me that they say that all Wisma Pertanian is closed.

Dr. Jeffrey, who is also Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, spoke to reporters after first registering at his ministerial office in Wisma Pertanian today.

It was rumored on social media that Wisma Pertanian would be closed due to Covid-19.

Sabah’s new cabinet members were sworn in on Tuesday with Perikatan Nasional’s head of state, Datuk Hajiji Noor, as chief minister.

In addition to Dr. Jeffrey, the head of Sabah Barisan Nasional, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, and the Vice President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Datuk Dr. Joachim Gunsalam (Kundasang), were appointed deputy prime ministers.

Bung Moktar and Dr. Joachim were also appointed Ministers of Works and Ministers of Industrial Development, respectively.

Hajiji has appointed Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun as Minister of Finance II and Minister of Housing and Local Government, and Datuk Jahid Jahim as Minister of Rural Development.

Hajiji will announce more appointments soon.
