KOTA KINABALU: As negotiations on the seats begin to intensify amid impending state polls, Kong Fui Seng has announced his resignation as Vice Chairman of Sabah STAR.

Sabah STAR President Datuk Seri Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan confirmed that Kong has left the party.

“He (Kong) has met me, he told me that he had met with Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal. I have not received your letter yet. It’s an office policy issue that he couldn’t handle, ”Kitingan said briefly when contacted on Monday (September 7).

Kong previously contested the Melalap and Liawan state seats in 2013 and 2018 respectively, where he lost both seats.

Kong is known to deliver his letter of request to join the Parti Warisan Sabah when its president Shafie Apdal visits Keningau this Wednesday (September 9).

Kong’s resignation came amid the intensification of seat negotiations involving the Opposition Sabah alliance.

Nominations for the 16th Sabah elections have been set for this Saturday (September 12), while the vote is on September 26.
