PETALING JAYA: A Sabah PKR youth leader criticized Warisan for “betraying the cooperation of Warisan Plus” after he nominated candidates for seats that PKR had already announced will compete.

PKR announced yesterday that it will contest the seats of Api-Api, Inanam, Tempasuk, Tamparuli, Matunggong, Klias, Sook, Kemabong, Segama, Limbahau, Sungai Manila, Membakut, Pintasan and Petagas.

However, Warisan Chairman Shafie Apdal announced today that they will run candidates in Pintasan, Petagas, Limbahau, Membakut, Sungai Manila and Segama, while Kemabong will be challenged by Upko.

PKR Youth’s chief information officer, Razeef Rakimin, questioned the spirit of unity that Shafie had repeatedly proclaimed when it came to allocating seats.

He also said he was upset with Amanah and DAP, accusing the Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parts of being willing to “make sacrifices” to compete for Shafie’s attention.

“Among the things they were willing to do is reject the candidacy of PH’s prime minister, instead of supporting another candidate proposed by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad: Shafie himself.

“What happened in the end was that Amanah was only given one seat to compete, while Warisan stole some seats destined for the DAP.”

The allocation of seats should be done fairly and in the spirit of cooperation and unity at Warisan Plus, Razeef said in a statement today.

He also warned that people were monitoring the situation and that Warisan Plus voters could cast “protest votes” in elections when they saw how hungry Warisan was for seats.
