KOTA KINABALU: PKR is distancing itself from a long-time ally and moving forward to try to regain the confidence of the people in the Sabah state elections.
Sabah PKR President Datuk Christina Liew said the party understood that people were angry after former Inanam Assemblyman Kenny Chua sided with former Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, but added that the incident did not It should stop you from moving forward.
She personally experienced the wrath of an irate voter who scolded her during her walk down Gaya Street while campaigning as a party candidate for Api-Api on Sunday (September 13) morning.
However, she did not allow the man’s angry words to affect her.
“Maybe he was an Inanam voter and I can understand his frustration that they lined up to vote for Kenny. But Kenny is a name from the past and we must move on,” he said.
Liew admitted that this election would be challenging, but he hopes for a renewed mandate from the people to continue his work for the betterment of his constituents.
PKR will contest seven seats in the state elections on September 26.
They are Matunggong, Tempasuk, Tamparuli, Inanam, Api-Api, Klias, and Sook.
Chua, a former vice president of Sabah PKR, is also making an attempt to defend his seat, but this time as an independent candidate.
