Sabah Election: Voting begins at 7.30am.

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 2,540 voting channels in 741 voting centers in 73 state electoral districts opened simultaneously at 7.30 am today to allow Sabah voters to elect a new government in early state elections.

The voting process, which involves 1,088,711 of the total of 1,103,646 ordinary voters, will be administered by 17,257 poll workers until the official voting time ends at 5:00 p.m.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast showers and thunderstorms in one or two locations on the west coast and inland Sabah, Kudat and Sandakan today.

With the elections taking place amid threats from Covid-19, especially with the growing number of positive cases reported in Sabah, 1,594 healthcare workers are also being stationed at voting centers across the state.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali has also ensured that the vote will run smoothly and without interruption and that voters can do their duty without worry.

The Sabah elections come after Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal sought the dissolution of the state legislature on July 30, a day after his predecessor, Tan Sri Musa Aman, claimed he had the support. of the majority among state assembly members to form a new government.Called
