KOTA KINABALU (10 September): Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) has announced its list of 31 candidates for the upcoming elections, but former Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman is not among them.
The electoral director of the state coalition, Datuk Bung Moktar Radin, announcing the names, said that Musa did not run to become a BN candidate in the elections held on September 26.
“We respect any leader, including Tan Sri Musa, but he never ran to become a Barisan Nasional candidate. That’s the only problem, ”Bung Moktar told reporters after announcing the candidates who are all from Umno.
Bung also said that Musa was never offered to run as a candidate.
He also said that 95 percent of the candidates were new faces, adding that two women were in his lineup.
“I promised 85 percent (new faces), but I came up with 95 percent,” he said.
Bung was also asked about his decision to feature an Umno candidate on Paginatan who is being watched by other Perikatan Nasional (PN) members.
“We will go for that,” he said, and said it can be compared to a friendly match. Umno is deploying Junaidi Sahat to Paginatan.
He also mentioned that the criteria for selecting the candidates include achieving the acceptance of their respective electors.
“And they must be candidates who can win,” he said.
