Rural infrastructure, online class of public universities among the topics of Parliament today

KUALA LUMPUR: Today’s Dewan Rakyat is expected to raise questions about basic infrastructure in rural Sabah and online classes taught by institutions of higher education.

According to Parliament’s order document that met today, the issues will be raised during the oral question-and-answer session.

Datuk Zakaria Mohd Edris (Bersatu-Libaran) will pose a question to the Minister of Rural Development on the status of basic rural infrastructure projects in Sabah, especially road projects, as well as the supply of electricity and water.

The issue of education will be raised by Datuk Mohd Nizar Zakaria (BN-Parit) through a question to the Minister of Higher Education about the proactive measures of public universities in preparing online class schedules, particularly for new students. and actions to ensure that none of them are excluded in the pursuit of their study program and field of study.

There will also be a question from Noorita Sual (PH-Tenom) to the Minister of Communications and Multimedia on measures to improve the communication system and Internet access, especially in rural areas of Sabah.

Meanwhile, Sim Chee Keong (PH-Bukit Mertajam) will ask the Finance Minister for details about the Laksana program and the reason for the poor response to some of the schemes carried out.

After the question and answer session, the chamber will proceed to finalize the debate on the Supply Bill 2021 by the ministries involved at the policy level.

As of yesterday, eight ministries had finished closing the debate on the bill that began last Monday.

These included the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia.
