KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (RTD) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) are committed to strengthening integrity and transparent governance aspects in the implementation of routine tasks through strategic cooperation between the two departments.

RTD and MACC, in a joint statement here today, said a framework and close collaboration were developed to foster a culture of high integrity in all RTD offices.

The matter was decided during a courtesy call from RTD CEO Datuk Zailani Hashim to MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki yesterday.

Zailani said RTD will not engage in any misconduct involving any of its employees.

According to him, RTD takes an open-door policy approach with any recommendation from the public to improve the department’s efficiency in delivering public services.

Meanwhile, Azam said that MACC welcomed the move and promised to assign a Certified Integrity Officer (CelO) in RTD’s Integrity Department.

“The strategic ties between RTD and MACC have been made through joint operations such as cloned cars, test drive fraud and others.

“Both parties also agreed to review the Cooperation Note (RTD-MACC) that was signed in 2017 in support of efforts to improve and strengthen the working relationship between these two departments,” he said. – Called
