PETALING JAYA: The Registrar of Companies (RoS) gave the go-ahead to DAP to postpone its 17th national party congress to a later date before June 30 of next year.
With this development, DAP’s national organizing secretary, Anthony Loke, said that the congress, which was originally scheduled for December 20, has been postponed.
“The national headquarters of the DAP received a response from the RoS and informed us that it agreed to extend the deadline to hold the national congress of the DAP before June 30, 2021.
“Therefore, the congress that is scheduled for December 20 in Shah Alam has been postponed to a date to be determined later,” he said in a statement on Monday (December 7).
Loke said DAP thanks RoS and the Home Secretary for considering his request.
Although the party’s congress is postponed, he noted that the nomination process for the election of the party’s central executive committee (CEC) has been completed and the list of candidates has been finalized.
A total of 86 candidates will participate in the re-election of the party’s CEC during the congress.
