Rohana Jupri is the first female Navy Admiral

KUALA LUMPUR: History was made in the Royal Malaysian Navy today, with Captain Rohana Jupri’s promotion to the rank of First Admiral, the first woman to rise to the rank.

Rohana, 57, was one of four senior officers promoted at a ceremony at the naval headquarters at KD Sri Gombak on Jalan Padang Tembak here officiated by the chief of the navy, Admiral Mohd Reza Mohd Sany.

Rohana, a mother of four, joined the RMN in December 1984. She has held various positions, including Commanding Officer of KD Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Staff Officer 1 Women Affairs of the Malaysian Armed Forces and commander of the Western Naval Supply Depot.

He was also responsible for the acquisition of significant assets to determine that Ops Benteng could be implemented more efficiently.

She said the promotion was a great recognition for her for her service in NMR. “I hope there are more female candidates who can follow in my footsteps. There is space available for NMR women to grow, ”she said.
