PETALING JAYA: The National Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) which ended on December 31, 2020 has been extended until March 31, Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said in a statement today.
He said this applies to the whole country except Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and other areas that are under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) or the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
“This decision was made after taking into account the risk assessment carried out by the Ministry of Health, which found a significant increase in cases that still occur throughout the country with a high rate of infection,” he added.
Ismail Sabri also pointed out that the increase in cases is due to the implementation of the mandatory control of foreign workers that is being carried out on a large scale.
It is also the result of the transmission of the infection in the communities detected, mainly in the Klang Valley and several other states.
On top of that, he said that all standard operating procedures under RMCO will continue to apply as
customary and will be subject to change from time to time.
“Today is the first day of 2021. This year will bring great challenges not only to Malaysia but to the whole world. Let us be determined to meet this challenge together. Always remember to follow standard operating procedures to stay safe, ”he said.
