PETALING JAYA: An electronic rebate of RM 200 will be given to users who purchase locally made refrigerators and air conditioners that have a four or five star energy rating in 2021.
The Sustainability Achieved Through Energy Efficiency (Save 2.0) program will receive an allocation of RM30 thousand in the 2021 budget and is expected to benefit 140,000 households, said Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Datuk Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (Photo).
To ensure reliable electricity services for Sabah, Dr. Shamsul has been allocated more than RM 458 thousand through grants for the continuation of improvements to the electricity supply infrastructure.
In total, the Ministry has been allocated a total of RM2.1 billion, with RM1.06 billion earmarked for operating expenses and RM1.04 billion for development expenses.
Dr. Shamsul said that RM70mil has been assigned for an instrument of Ecological Fiscal Transfer for Biodiversity Conservation (EFT), which is an incentive for state governments for the implementation of projects related to the sustainability of biodiversity.
“The Government is aware of the burden borne by state governments in conserving protected areas and protecting wildlife habitat,” it said in a statement on Friday (November 6).
He also said that RM20mil would also go towards increasing the participation of Malaysian Armed Forces (IVA) veterans, police and orang asli by 500 people in the Biodiversity Protection and Patrolling Program (BP3).
Its areas of operation will be expanded to cover other critical points, including permanent forest reserves.
Dr. Shamsul said they would continue the Mangrove Planting Program to preserve mangroves and other tree species in coastal areas, including Tanjung Piai in Johor and Kuala Sepetang in Perak.
He said that they welcomed the initial allocation of RM20 thousand for the MySDG Trust Fund and the allocation of RM 50 thousand for maintenance work at ecotourism sites below them, such as Taman Negara, state forest parks and geoparks.
“We will optimize our spending to ensure the sustainability of the electricity supply industry and the management of natural resources for the well-being of the country,” he said.
