RM120.5M for rural electricity supply program in Sabah

PUTRAJAYA: The government has allocated RM120.5 million for the implementation of the Grid-connected Rural Electricity Supply Program in three areas of Sabah, said Rural Development Minister Datuk Dr. Abd Latiff Ahmad.

“With this initiative, the villages will shine as urban areas,” he said in a statement about the launch of the project in Kudat, Sabah today.

He said that with the supply of electricity, the villagers could carry out their daily activities without having to use a generator set, in addition to promoting socio-economic development in the areas.

Meanwhile, a total of 21 houses in Kampung Sungai Manila, Sandakan will benefit from electrical wiring system repair work carried out by the Energy Commission (ST), which will allow the local community to have a safe wiring system and efficient energy use of electricity. .

ST in a statement said today that the update includes adding power outlets, replacing broken fans and light bulbs with energy-efficient components.

He said that current balancing devices would be installed in houses without an adequate protection system in accordance with the Electricity Supply Law of 1990 and the Electricity Regulation of 1994.-Named
