KUALA LUMPUR: The allocation for the Department of Special Affairs (Jasa) does not have to be overly politicized as the government is still discussing its policies, says Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
“It is still in its discussion stage, so it is better for it to appear in Parliament. The ministers involved will give their contributions and we can discuss from there,” he said.
Annuar said this during a press conference in Taman Desa, Kuala Lumpur, after delivering contributions to Nurajahan Mariamah Abdullah, a single mother who lost her job due to the pandemic.
“Many MPs are still confused about the resurgence of Jasa, but this Jasa is not the same as last time (Jasa). However, we welcome input from other MPs during Parliament sessions,” Annuar said.
“Jasa’s policies will be discussed in the Cabinet, where the details will be smoothed out,” he added.
During the 2021 budget announcement, a total of RM 85 million was allocated to Jasa.
The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia later clarified that the assignment would reactivate the department and focus on uniting the nation in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
