SUNGAI PETANI: Residents in areas under an enhanced motion control (MCO) order were seen receiving food supplies on barbed wire placed around the multiple exits in their living areas.
Security guard Zairullain Hassan, 50, picked up the bag from a friend.
“They have put up barbed wire and blocked all our exits.
“I have yet to get tested and it may take a few days, but in the meantime, I have children to feed.
“I work as a security guard in a school outside the perimeter, so I had to inform them that I will not be able to go to work,” he said when he found himself near his home in the Kenanga area of Aman Jaya, Kedah.
Army retiree Nazri Dahman, 49, delivered buns and other food to his friend who also lives in the Kenanga area.
“We work together in the military and I live just outside the lockdown area. She has young children and needs portions.
“I’m lucky my area is not affected, so the least I can do is pass some food to it,” he said.
A doctor at a health clinic based in Masjid al-Imam al-Nawawi in the Melor area said they expected to examine 750 people a day.
“In the Melor area there are more than 5,700 people. There will be turns of two teams. One from 8 am to 2 pm and the other from 2 pm to 8 pm, ”he said.
She said this was considered a massive evaluation as there are more than 22,000 people.
“Our progress is based on the cooperation of the residents,” he said.
There are six interim testing centers, two in each zone. Kenanga, Melor and Mawar have 22,369 residents in total.
