CORONAVIRUS | “Make it first and last,” said Yazid Naim of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (MCO) at Simpang Renggam near Kluang, Johor, which was lifted at midnight yesterday.

Joy and relief were written all over the face of the 45-year-old Kampung Dato ‘Ibrahim Majid resident, one of the villages who underwent the enhanced MCO on March 27.

Along with the village, Ibrahim Majid from Bandar Baru Dato and several other villages in Simpang Renggam were also placed under the order after 61 residents were infected with Covid-19, the disease that is now devastating the world.

“During the 30 days, I was locked up in my house. I was unable to carry out my daily tasks. Everything had to be postponed, “said Yazid Bernama, sharing the general feeling of fellow residents.

With the removal of the enhanced MCO, these areas now return to the MCO, which is in its fourth two-week phase from today through May 12 across the country.

Yazid said the improved MCO also had its positive points.

“We were able to observe how people from different sectors collaborated and cooperated to help us. They worked hard to free us from the enhanced MCO, ”he said, expressing his gratitude to all the healthcare staff and others.

Another resident, Fadhil Abdullah, 52, said he was unable to operate his retail store in Kampung Dato ‘Ibrahim Majid during the enhanced MCO.

Now that the enhanced MCO has ended, he is considering reopening the store as it is the only source of income for his family.

“I hope that life will be almost normal again for us because under the MCO there is some flexibility. I am happy that the improved MCO is over, ”said a beaming Fadhil.

Bernama found that the companies allowed in the area that was under the enhanced MCO have not yet reopened. – Bernama
