PETALING JAYA: Former Prime Minister Najib Razak has called on the government to take a minister to court for disobeying Covid-19 SOPs after police said no further action (NFA) would be taken against him for failing to submit to home quarantine upon return from Turkey in July. .
The Attorney General’s Office (AGC) and Bukit Aman CID chief Huzir Mohamed said yesterday that the decision not to take further action against the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Khairuddin Aman Razali, was due to his failure to had issued the form to submit to quarantine upon return to the country. .
“As I have suggested before, the government of Perikatan Nasional (PN) should rescind the NFA and continue its charges against the PAS minister, as many consider it unfair and double standards.
“Do not give Pakatan Harapan free political capital. Let the judge decide, ”Najib said in a Facebook post today.
He was responding to a news report in which DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang linked the decision of Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to reaffirm his party’s support for the PN with the decision not to prosecute Khairuddin.
Najib also said that the NFA classification should be reviewed in cases during PH’s time in power.
“The PN government should also rescind the NFA during the time of PH and continue prosecutions for the 33 billion ringgit currency scandal of Bank Negara Malaysia and the (alleged) embezzlement of 1.5 billion ringgit of funds from Air Sabah by Shafie Apdal.
“That is fair. The NFAs for these three cases must be rescinded, ”he said.
Yesterday, the AGC said that Khairuddin did not receive a home surveillance order from the Health Ministry official at the airport.
