PUTRAJAYA: Public officials are encouraged to report any misconduct that occurs in ministries, departments or agencies to prevent leakage, especially abuse of power, among multi-level staff regardless of their position.
The Director General of the Department of Public Service (PSD), Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman, said the government sees bad practices involving public officials.
“There are various channels for informants to relay information to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) or the integrity unit in each ministry, department or agency.
“Rest assured that your identity and the information provided to the authorities will be kept confidential and the informant will be protected in accordance with existing regulations, as provided in the Witness Protection Act of 2009 and the Witness Protection Act of 2010, “he said in a medium. statement here today.
Adib said that all public officials are subject to the Public Officials (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993. If they violate any rules, including failure to report officials’ misconduct, disciplinary action can be taken against them.
Reminding all department heads that this matter should be taken seriously, he congratulated those who had dared to come forward to provide information and help prevent misconduct.
“This shows that they have a very high integrity and that their action must be emulated by other public servants.
“PSD also commends the MACC and other enforcement agencies for their ongoing and proactive action to address and eradicate corrupt practices and, in doing so, helped improve integrity and good governance in the public sector,” he said.
