KOTA BHARU: Nine policemen were stationed today at the entrance and exit of Pondok Daril Naim, a religious school near Melor, after two female residents tested positive for Covid-19.

Kelantan Deputy Chief of Police Abdullah Mohammad Piah said the restrictions were the first step in curbing the spread of infections as there are 161 occupants in the school, aged 12 to 60.

“Barricades were set up to prevent residents from leaving and non-residents from entering,” he told reporters after inspecting the religious school today.

“For now, we are conducting patrols twenty-four hours a day every day. The application will continue until the risk of infection is reduced and the Kelantan State Department of Health makes another decision, ”he added.

“So far, 47 residents have received treatment at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, Tumpat Hospital and Kuala Krai Hospital.

Abdullah said the roadblocks were established yesterday after the Kelantan state security committee meeting, chaired by Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob.

He added that there were no instructions to impose an enhanced motion control order.
