KUALA LUMPUR: There are enough “sensible MPs” supporting the 2021 budget, says Prime Minister’s Department Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.

“If you look at the number of sensible people, we have enough. I cannot say with certainty today that we have 120 or 125 MPs in support, but I see that sensible people understand what the government is doing and will support us.

“I’m not worried,” he said when meeting reporters in Parliament on Monday (November 23).

When asked if Budget 2021 would be a bipartisan effort involving all sides of the political divide, Redzuan said no.

“It will be a budget for Perikatan Nasional,” he added.

Redzuan also said that all MPs should put aside their political differences and work together to improve the 2021 Budget.

“Conventionally, we can refine the assignments. If it is not enough, more funds can be allocated for the people, ”added g =.

There are currently 220 MPs in the Parliament out of 222 seats, following the recent deaths of Batu Sapi’s MP Datuk Liew Vui Keong and Gerik’s MP Datuk Hasbullah Osman.

The Perikatan government requires a simple majority of 111 to approve the 2021 Budget this Thursday (November 26).

It is extremely crucial that the 2021 Budget be passed, as its failure could effectively mean that the Perikatan government has lost its majority in Parliament, possibly paving the way for an unprecedented snap election amid the third wave of Covid infections. -19.
