PUTRAJAYA: Schools in red zones will only be closed if there are infections within the community.

Education Minister Dr. Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said that just because a school is located in a red zone district, there have to be infections within the community for the school to be closed in order to protect students. and staff.

He cited an example of schools in the northeast district of Penang, which is declared a red zone.

Mohd Radzi said the ministry closes schools based on the advice of the Ministry of Health.

“According to the Ministry of Health, the infections in this district occurred inside the prison and the infection rate is under control there,” he said after attending a meeting with state and district education officials from Sabah, Selangor, Labuan, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. .

All of these areas are under the command of controlled motion control (MCO).

He added that in addition to schools in red zones, schools with positive cases of Covid-19 and in areas under the controlled MCO will also be closed.
