PUTRAJAYA: The police detained 124 people in pubs and nightclubs as part of the government’s operations on violations of the recovery movement control order (MCO), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Chief Minister (Security) said the 124 people were among the 293 people who were arrested for various MCO recovery offenses on Sunday (September 20).

“Of the 293 criminals, 24 were detained in preventive detention, while 269 received compounds.

“Among the MCO recovery offenses were ‘pub and disco activities’ (124 people), non-compliance with physical distancing rules (85), non-compliance with registration facilities for clients (31), non-use of masks ( 24), businesses that operate beyond the stipulated time (10), premises that operate without permits (six), leave the house without reasonable excuse (two) and not resolve the quarantine charges (two), ”said Ismail, his daily statement on the recovery MCO compliance to the public on Monday (September 21).

A total of 54,825 controls were carried out on Sunday by 11,016 agents of the task force, led by the police.

The locations that were monitored included supermarkets, restaurants, street stalls, factories, banks, government offices, as well as air, land and water terminals.

Police, along with Malaysian Border Security and the Malaysian Armed Forces, lifted 91 roadblocks across the country on Sunday under “Ops Benteng.”

They managed to catch 75 undocumented immigrants, as well as five human smugglers and two “tekongs” (captains of fishing boats).

Ismail also said that between July 24 and September 20, 31,830 people entered the country through international entry points.

Currently, 8,347 people are under mandatory quarantine orders, while 23,417 have been discharged.

Another 71 people have been sent to hospitals for treatment.

People in quarantine are located in 67 hotels, eight public training institutions, as well as private institutions of higher education throughout the country.

Ismail also said that the Ministry of Housing and Local Government had conducted nine Covid-19 sanitation exercises in various states, including Penang (four operations), Sabah (two), Sarawak (one), Perlis (one) and Melaka (one). on Sunday. .

He said that since March 30, the ministry has carried out 13,023 sanitation operations in 135 areas.

Last Tuesday, enforcement officers from the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs carried out 1,607 checks at commercial facilities on compliance with SOPs.

“Based on the controls, it was found that 1,594 locations have adhered to the government’s SOP. Another 13 companies received warnings for not following SOPs, ”he said.
