PETALING JAYA: The first day of the Work from Home Directive (WFH) on Thursday (October 22) saw quieter neighborhoods and roads as most Malaysians adhered to the new ruling to stop the spread of Covid-19.

The flow of traffic on the Federal Highway, which is generally congested, was reported to be smooth in the morning.

The office complexes in Petaling Jaya also appeared to be quiet, as most of the employees now work from home, as the WFH leadership only allows 10% of those in managerial and supervisory roles to work on-site. .

On Wednesday (October 21), Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the WFH directive from Thursday (October 22) to the end of the conditional movement control order only applies to officials of government in the categories of management and supervision that do not need to be in office. and industries registered with the Ministry of Industry and International Trade.

It was also announced that 10% of the top staff in a company’s administration, finance, legal and IT departments could work on-site from 10 am to 2 pm for up to three days a week.

Workers who are in the red zones but who need to work in the office are encouraged to undergo Covid-19 swab testing, and the Social Security Organization (Socso) bears the costs for their taxpayers .

The new WFH leadership will involve 800,000 workers in various industries, as well as nearly 200,000 officials.
