KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The police will call Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (Photo) to Bukit Aman soon to give a statement on the claim that he violated a self quarantine order to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Deputy Director (investigation / legal) Subcommander Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said investigations are being carried out following a statement on Amirudin’s Twitter account apologizing for the matter, saying that He did it to verify the water interruption in Selangor.

“He has been called to give a statement soon to help with the investigation and several witnesses will also be called,” he said on Saturday (October 24).

The case is being investigated under Section 15 and Section 22 (B) of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act of 1988 for failing to comply with a valid directive issued by any authorized official.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Police Deputy Inspector General Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said that the police were investigating a case involving Amiruddin for his apology via social media for breaking the home quarantine.

On October 4, Amirudin, through his Twitter account, apologized for having to come out of quarantine to solve the problem of contamination of the river that caused the cessation of operations of two water treatment plants (LRA), Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi.

In the same post, Amirudin said that he took the necessary precautionary measures, including wearing a mask, and that the screening test, which he did twice, found him negative for Covid-19.

He visited the Sungai Semenyih LRA to inspect the pollution situation with the Minister of the Environment and Water, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

Amirudin was ordered to undergo home quarantine by the Health Ministry upon his return from Sabah’s state elections in September. – Bernama
