PWD Confirms Staff Member Tests Positive for Covid-19

PETALING JAYA: The Department of Public Works (PWD) has confirmed that one of its employees has been hospitalized after testing positive for Covid-19.

PWD said the employee tested positive on September 16 and had been sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.

“In an attempt to stop the spread of the infection, PWD Malaysia submitted the list of close contacts to the Ministry of Health,” the department said in a statement on Thursday (September 17).

PWD also said that all close contacts between staff had undergone health screenings and had been quarantined at home.

“Proactive measures have also been taken with the domain of the office and the surrounding areas subjected to disinfection,” he said.

Apart from that, infographic announcements about Covid-19 infection prevention and control procedures were made through its official website, portal and email, to staff, PWD said.

“We will cooperate with the relevant authorities in the next course of action.

“PWD Malaysia will continue to monitor the latest development on Covid-19 and implement all necessary precautionary steps,” he added.

PWD also released a list of employee travel history, including PWD headquarters, on September 7, 8 and 9, and in Parliament on September 10.

The PWD employee had also flown to Kuching, Sarawak, on September 14 for a meeting and was informed by Kuching Hospital on September 16 that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
