KUALA LUMPUR: Public parks within Federal Territories that were previously closed when the conditional motion control order (MCO) went into effect, can now be reopened as long as standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed.
Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa announced this on Sunday (Oct 18) saying there should be a SOP compliance check in place.
“SOP for the conditional MCO allows certain sports activities.
“The golf courses are open, the gyms are open. But the public parks are closed,” he said in a tweet.
However, he said that the Federal Territories state security committee, after consulting with the National Security Council and the Ministry of Health, decided to reopen public parks.
“(This) provides an opportunity for permitted recreational activities only,” he said.
The conditional MCO has been reinstated in the Klang Valley and is in effect from October 14 to October 27.
One day before the announcement of the conditional MCO, the Kuala Lumpur City Council announced that all 17 parks managed by them would be closed.
