KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) announced that its state assemblywomen will not attend the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today.

In a statement released yesterday, PSB President Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh said the DUN session will not give members any opportunity to debate and raise relevant issues, as it will take place for just one day, adding that there will be no debate on the two complementary budgets. Accounts to be presented at the session.

“I am referring to the press release from DUN President Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, who says that the DUN session on May 11 will be for one day only and there will be no debate on the two supplementary budgets to be presented as indicated. in Permanent Order 67 (4) and (8).

“This means that this session will not give DUN members any opportunity to debate and raise relevant issues, in particular issues related to the huge deficit in the 2019 and 2020 budgets as a result of the deficit in the sales tax of oil and gas payable by Petronas, “he said.

Wong reiterated that the DUN must sit for at least three days to debate the 2019 and 2020 state budgets, which he considered “presumptuous and unrealistic.”

He added that the state budget had greatly overestimated sales tax revenues from petroleum products.

“If state assemblymen are not allowed to discuss other issues during this session, then the session becomes a pointless exercise.

“It will only be a formality to approve the supplemental budgets without any debate.”

In addition to Wong, who is the assemblyman for Bawang Assan, the other PSB assembly members are Dr. Johnichal Rayong (Engkilili), Datuk Ranum Mina (Opar), and Datuk Tiong Thai King (Dudong).
