According to a post on the official Proton website, the X70 will be updated with a new N95 cabin filter, which will offer better filtration than the current dust and pollen filter used in the SUV.
The move is in line with Geely’s initiative announced in February this year, which saw the development of the G-Clean Intelligent Air Purification System (IAPS), a new system that can automatically filter out harmful particles.
As an upgrade, the IAPS system features a chemical activated carbon filter that can effectively absorb harmful gases such as formaldehyde when entering the vehicle, while filtering odor and harmful pollutants.
The system also comes with a negative ion generator that can sterilize and deodorize the car’s air, including removing viruses, bacteria, fungi and mold from the air. Geely says this is the same level of air filtration as an N95 breathing system, and has introduced the system into the Jiaji MPV.
The N95 cabin filter will be installed as standard on the new X70s, but is likely to be offered as a mod item for Fully Imported (CBU) and Locally Assembled (CKD) models as it is simply a filter change . Exact details and prices will be announced soon.
