As recently mocked, Proton finally announced a new update to its 2020 X70 SUV with the addition of a new N95 cabin filter. The Proton Intelligent Air Purification System (P-IAPS) will be offered as standard equipment on the locally assembled Proton X70 2020.
The N95 cabin filter is designed to offer better cabin air quality. It is said to be capable of removing 95% of particles larger than 0.3 microns and 98% of PM2.5 dust particles. He added that this is an effective barrier against smoke, dust, bacteria and other contaminants. The filter works in both cool and recirculation mode for the air conditioning system.
The existing air purifying system in the X70 will remain and uses a High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter (HEPA) that removes 99.97% of particles larger than 0.3 microns, while its activated carbon removes odors and formaldehyde, while absorbing and purifying smoke particles. The system also has an ionizer that discharges negative ions to clean the air.
By combining the air purifying system with the N95 cabin filter, the P-IAPS will offer a high level of protection against airborne contaminants for a cleaner and healthier environment.
N95 cabin filter for existing Proton X70
According to Proton, current X70 owners will be able to upgrade their pollen and dust filter to the N95 cabin filter for RM79, excluding labor charges. For those interested in upgrading, they can make an online service appointment or contact a Proton service center starting May 13, 2020. Proton is also hosting a service campaign from May 18 to 18. August where they offer a 15% discount on the price of the filter. to all Proton X70 owners.
According to Proton CEO Dr. Li Chunrong, Proton is constantly looking for ways to improve its offering. He also added that Proton designers and engineers are working to adapt the N95 cabin filter on its other models.
