The few Proton X50s you’ve seen on the road belong to proud early risers. There’s surely a backlog of orders, as Proton is a bit far from fulfilling orders: In November, the automaker delivered 1,756 units of the new SUV, with total deliveries since launching 2,203 units in late November.
At the October 27 launch, Proton said it aims to produce 8,000 units of the X50 in the last two months of the year, but this seems optimistic. Order one now and you’ll have to wait a bit. Any other way? Car subscription provider Flux has announced that the Proton X50 is now available for pre-order. The B-SUV is available in Flagship or Premium specification, with a choice of Snow White, Jet Gray and Passion Red colors.
As mentioned, Flux is a car subscription service, which means you are essentially renting the car from them (full story on how it works here) for an agreed period.
Flux gives the example of the X50 Flagship, which starts from RM1,995 per month for a 36-month subscription plan. That sum is a total figure that includes road tax, insurance, maintenance and wear and tear.
The firm says it will pay less upfront with the subscription than with a conventional purchase. The example above is Flux versus a 2.5% five-year HP loan with a 10% down payment. The sum of the insurance includes special risks and windshield coverage.
Flux’s concierge service offers a door-to-door service and is also available for all your maintenance and documentation needs. There is also unlimited nationwide roadside assistance 24/7, emergency dispatch services, and auto theft recovery.
If you want to keep the X50 after the three-year subscription period, you can pay RM78,000 to own it; that’s the guaranteed future value of the car under the Flux Subscribe to Ownership program.
You’ll get a new unit within seven days of booking approval, so this is an effective way to avoid the queue. Do you need to sell your current car? The Flux concierge team will even help you get an appraisal and assist you with the transaction. The Proton X50 is also available for corporate subscription through Flux Business Class. Once again, this is how the Flux subscription model works.
