This just arrived. Proton has announced that one of its employees from the Research and Development Department at Shah Alam has tested positive for Covid-19. The employee tested positive on October 14 and was immediately hospitalized.

Thorough facility sanitization and contract tracking processes are already underway. The national automaker said it will strictly adhere to protocols issued by authorities to prevent further spread of the virus.

Other members of Proton’s R&D staff have been advised to self-quarantine at home. Proton claims that the infected employee was not exposed to customers in any way, so there is not much concern about direct exposure to customers.

In a press release, Proton said it will “continue to strictly follow all guidelines and procedures established by the authorities, as it has been doing since the start of the pandemic.” The company will continue to monitor the situation before deciding if further action is necessary.
