Sir David Attenborough has been a close friend of the royal family for decades. And today, Prince William and Kate Middleton shared a new photo of the entire Cambridge team (all in matching blue outfits!) With the famous TV host and environmentalist.
According to Kensington Palace, the color-coordinated image was “taken earlier this week in the Kensington Palace Gardens, after the Duke and Sir David attended an open-air screening of Sir David’s upcoming film 🎞️ ‘David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet,’ “a documentary that will premiere on Netflix on October 4.
In addition to the group photo, the royals also shared a rare image of Prince William with his two sons, Princes George and Louis.
Clearly, Princess Charlotte was excited to see Sir David in her own backyard, as evidenced by her expression in the picture, but she actually brought a gift for her older brother, Prince George.
“When they first met, Sir David gave Prince George a tooth from a giant shark, whose scientific name is carcharocles megalodon (‘big tooth’),” the Kensington Royal post on Instagram reads.
“Sir David found the tooth on a family vacation to Malta in the late 1960s, embedded in the island’s smooth yellow limestone that was laid during the Miocene period some 23 million years ago. Carcharocles is believed to have grown up to 15 meters in length, which is roughly twice the length of the Great White, the largest shark living today. ”
