The popular Raja Bot market in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, is the last to be ordered closed due to disinfection following a directive from the Ministry of Health.
Following the directive, the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) issued a notice informing the public that the closure will take effect from today until May 13.
“Typically a shutdown of more than two weeks would mean someone there tested positive for Covid-19.
“We know for sure that there is an infection, but at the moment, we cannot determine the exact number,” said DBKL’s director of corporate planning department Khairul Azmir Ahmad when they contacted us.
“We do not want to speculate on the matter.
“Health authorities will carry out any Covid-19 screening exercise.
“But for our part, we will follow the standard operating procedure of the Ministry of Health when we carry out a disinfection exercise,” he said.
“I advise the public to look at other areas to buy fresh produce and stay away from the Raja Bot market,” he said.
