This morning contamination was detected in raw water resources at the Rantau Panjang water treatment plant and three other plants.

PETALING JAYA: The operations of four water treatment plants in Selangor have been suspended after Air Selangor detected contamination in raw water resources this morning.

The Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plant (WTP) closed at 7.15am and operations in phases 1, 2 and 3 (WTP SSP1, WTP SSP2 and WTP SSP3) were also later suspended at 9am.

A total of 1,292 locations in seven areas of the Klang Valley have experienced water supply disruptions since 10 am, including Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang / Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat.

In a statement, Air Selangor’s head of corporate communication, Elina Baseri, said they were working with the Selangor Water Management Authority to address the problem, but at 11.30am, contamination was still detected in Sungai Selangor.

He said Air Selangor will send water tanker trucks to all affected areas, giving priority to hospitals and dialysis centers.

He also said that consumers who need emergency water supply can call 15300 or WhatsApp 019-2800919 and 019-2816793 for help.

Updates on the interruption of the water supply will be published in all Air Selangor media, and consumers are urged to use water in moderation.
