KUALA LUMPUR: PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is under investigation by Bukit Aman in connection with his statement calling on Yang Di-Pertuan Agong to suspend the emergency proclamation.

Perak Police Chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid confirmed receiving a report on the matter.

“The case is being handled by the Bukit Aman CID Special Investigation Unit. We helped record the statement of whoever presented the report, but the case has been referred to Bukit Aman for further action,” he said when contacted. on Wednesday (January 27). ).

An earlier police report against the Port Dickson deputy was filed in Kuala Lumpur, he added.

“We will leave the investigation to Bukit Aman,” said Comm Mior.

Anwar had announced that he intended to legally challenge the emergency proclamation and also asked MPs to appeal to the king to review his decision.

He has written to all MPs to send a memorandum to Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah calling for the measure and the convening of Parliament.

May this letter obtain the support and wisdom of Yang di-Pertuan Agong to withdraw the Emergency proclamation and subsequently decree a session of Parliament that will take place before January 31 to debate issues on the Emergency, Covid-19 and the economic crisis, ”Anwar said. in a sentence.

On January 12, the King had decreed the Emergency until August 1 or earlier if the number of Covid-19 cases could be reduced and effectively controlled.
