PETALING JAYA: Police took action against 688 people on Saturday (October 24) for violating the movement control order (MCO), said Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri (Photo).
The Senior Minister (Security) said that of the total, 678 compounds were issued while ten were forwarded.
Violations included failing to observe social distancing (213), failing to wear face masks (211), failing to provide check-in facilities for clients (136), crossing state and districts under the conditional MCO without permission (37), and other violations (91).
Ismail Sabri said the police-led task force monitoring SOP compliance carried out 53,974 checks across the country on Saturday, Ismail said in a statement on Sunday (October 25).
These controls were carried out in supermarkets, restaurants, street vendors, factories, banks, government offices and transportation centers.
Ismail Sabri also said that ten undocumented immigrants were detained for immigration offenses, while five vehicles were seized under Ops Benteng, the operation to protect Malaysia’s borders.
He added that the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) inspected 36 construction sites in the country, of which 13 were found to be in compliance with the SOP while 23 were not in operation.
Ismail Sabri also said that the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs carried out 943 checks on commercial premises, of which 935 complied with the SOP.
The other eight locals were advised to comply with the POE.
