KUALA LUMPUR: Police solved the murder of a 21-year-old man in a housing project here, after arresting six suspects in connection with the murder.
The man was stabbed to death at the Taman Intan Baiduri Popular Housing Project (PPR) in Kepong here last month.
Sentul District Police Chief, ACP, Beh Eng Lai, said all the suspects, aged between 24 and 42, were detained yesterday in the Klang Valley, bringing the total number of people arrested in this case to nine.
“Investigations showed that three of the suspects arrested were responsible and directly involved in the murder,” he said here today, adding that the motive for the murder was related to drug trafficking activities.
It said all the suspects were unemployed and had a criminal record related to drug cases and had been detained for seven days until December 12.
“With these arrests, the case has been settled,” he said.
Beh said that prior to this, the police arrested three men on the same day of the incident, namely November 25, and released them on bail after their pre-trial period ended.
In the incident, around 10 a.m., the victim was stabbed by two men on a motorcycle in the urbanization. It was learned that the victim had come to the PRPD to pitch tents.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, a 35-year-old man was arrested after he was suspected of being involved in assaulting a customer of a restaurant at Jalan Metro Perdana Taman Usahawan in Kepong on Friday.
The suspect was taken into custody around 7 p.m. yesterday in Jalan Pudu and held in pre-trial detention for four days until Wednesday for further investigation.
“We are still looking for five more people involved in the case,” he said.
On December 4, the 9.50pm incident was due to a misunderstanding about a double parking incident. The 30-year-old victim and his wife were attacked by three angry men that the victim had double-parked their vehicle blocking the suspect’s car. -Called
