KAJANG: Police have opened an investigation into allegations that the Minister of Religious Affairs failed to comply with the movement control order (MCO).

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan confirmed having received a police report on the matter.

“We have opened a police investigation document to facilitate initial investigations into the case,” he said in a statement Thursday (May 14).

A police report written sighted by The star alleged that Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Al-Bakri had posted news of his activities on his Facebook page on May 2.

The report was presented by a 43-year-old man at the Bandar Baru Bangi Police Station around 6:10 p.m. on May 3.

The Plaintiff mentioned that a series of activities carried out by Dzulkefly challenged the MCO.

The minister allegedly did this by sending a transfer letter to a senior official with the Malaysian Department of Islamic Development (Jakim) in person on March 31 and taking photos with the officer.

It is also alleged that Dzulkefly met an acquaintance, Dr. Datuk Fathul Bari, and several others, and held a meeting in his office without observing the social distancing on April 13.

The report also stated that the next day, the minister summoned Dr. Rozaimi Ramli, Dr. Ahmad Kamil Jamilin and Dr. Fathul, as well as several others, to meet in his office.
