PETALING JAYA: The driver of the truck that crashed into a police obstacle, resulting in the death of a corporal, was arrested shortly after being released on police bail on Friday (May 8).

Selangor CID chief, Communications Assistant Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said the suspect’s detention ended Friday after his arrest on Sunday (May 3) under Section 41 (1) of the Highway Transportation Act of 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.

“He was released on police bail and again arrested under Section 304 of the Penal Code for wrongful death and Section 269 of the same code for negligent act that is likely to spread the infection of the disease.

“We will request that the suspect be referred tomorrow (May 9) to the Kajang Magistrates Court,” he said.

On Sunday (May 3), a police officer on duty died after a suspected drunk driver crashed into him in an obstacle on the Lekas ​​road.

The victim was identified as Corporal Safwan Muhammad Ismail, 31, who was attached to the Kajang District Police Headquarters.

He was buried on Monday (May 4) in Ipoh, Perak.
