KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 91 people received compounds following raids at two entertainment venues in Kuchai Lama and Bandar Baru Sri Petaling early Sunday (September 6).

Those who received compounds were local customers and bar workers.

The police also detained 16 Vietnamese women who worked as hostesses at points of sale and a citizen of Myanmar.

Acting on a warning, the police raided the first premises in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling around 12:30 am on Sunday.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Zailrulnizam Mohd Zainuddin @ Hilmi said compounds were delivered to 18 customers at the facility for violating the motion control recall order (MCO).

“We raided the second store in Kuchai Business Park around 2 am and detained 17 Vietnamese women.

“We also delivered compounds to 73 customers and three local bar workers,” he said when contacted on Monday (September 7).

Vietnamese women, between the ages of 20 and 40, have been in pretrial detention until Sept. 19, he added.

“All bar or pub owners should not employ undocumented foreigners or without valid permits.

“Tough measures will also be taken against those who operate without valid business licenses,” he said.

ACP Zailrulnizam reminded the public that they must adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the MCO recovery.

He also urged anyone with information on any crime to contact Brickfields police at 03-2297 9222 or the nearest police station.

“We look forward to the public’s cooperation to stop the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
