KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating a drug ring that Malaysia used as a transit point following the arrests of five men, including a cosmetics businessman “Datuk Seri” and the seizure of about RM5 thousand of syabu.

Selangor Police Deputy Director, Deputy Commissioner Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed, said that “Datuk Seri”, 31, and his 25-year-old brother, who is military personnel, were arrested around 4.30 pm in Taman Serdang Perdana on 10 of November.

“They were in a Ford Mustang registered to the younger brother’s wife when the raid took place.

“We also seized 126.85 kg of syabu hidden in packages of Chinese tea, worth almost RM5 thousand,” he said when contacted on Saturday (November 14).

DCP Arjunaidi said the police are investigating how the union smuggled the drugs into and out of the country.

“We want to discover his methods and identify his drug ring. We believe that the union has been in operation for more than five months,” he added.

Police also arrested two local men and an Indonesian man at another location in Taman Serdang Perdana, DCP Arjunaidi said.

“We believe that the two locals were members of the union, while the foreigner was the intermediary of the drug deals. We also seized several vehicles, including the Ford Mustang,” he added.

While the cosmetic businessman’s business card read the title “Datuk Seri, DCP”, Arjunaidi said that the police doubted its authenticity.

“We believe he is using a false title, but we are investigating more,” he said.

The 126.85 kg of syabu was reported to have supplied 253,700 addicts.

Drugs were smuggled from a neighbor to transport them to another neighboring country.
